Synopsis
The story of Jesus' birth is told simply
and sweetly in this oversized board book for young children.
Parents and teachers who desire to tell the Christmas
story to preschoolers would do well with this book. The
rhyming text is direct; and each block of the story requires
children to fit one of six puzzle pieces to complete a
sequence. On the first page spread, the text describes
an angel appearing to Mary.
The
illustrations show the backyard of a small house filled
with animals. An angel hovers near a figure cut out of
this scene. Children must select one of the puzzle pieces
and fit it into this space. The puzzle pieces are cleverly
stored behind a panel, which slides in and out behind
the front cover of the book. Preschoolers will learn the
basics of this Bible story in an entertaining way. Manipulating
the sturdy puzzle pieces will also enhance their gross
motor skills. Ages 2 to 5. (Source: Children's Literature
